The Boys are Back

Monday was the first time I was alone with the kids for an extended period of time. Carter brought my camping chair out on the front lawn for me, and they all played out front in the afternoon. They don't usually get to play out there, because when I have daycare kids we have to stay in the fenced-in play yard out back.

There is a pine tree out front that is known as the climbing tree. A couple years ago Bryan cut off the lower branches and left the about a foot long to be handholds. A few feet up, he cut the branches flush with the tree to prevent the kids from climbing too high. This year Carter is tall enough to bypass the gap between branches, so he can climb pretty high. Berkleigh doesn't climb up yet, but the other kids really enjoy the tree.

For some reason Merlyn put a bib on in the morning and wore it all day. Don't ask me why -- she has her own mysterious reasons for wearing certain things (like pants and a turtleneck on an 80 degree day).
Another attraction of the front yard is the sand under the front porch. In the afternoon it's a shady, cool place to play. Berkleigh was burying Myles in a hole he'd dug. I'm not sure how buried he got, but all the kids were pretty much covered with sand afterward.

Maybe Merlyn wanted everyone to know that she loves her mommy and the bib seemed like the best way to do it. She already knows the power of a fashion statement.

Carter must be tall to reach those high branches!

I have to agree with Kelley - Merlyn was just expressing her huge sense of fashion. Before you know it, you will see runway models with bibs on!!!!

Bet it's nice to have everyone back under one roof!!!!
