When we were out front on Monday, Carter weeded around the kids' pine trees for me. There are four little trees that I planted the year bought the house. Each kid has their own tree where we take pictures on the first day of school every year.

Merlyn went on the back porch to get her chair since I had my chair (monkey see, monkey do) and she came back carrying the boys' chairs, too. It was a lot of work for a little girl.
Myles helped out by keeping the girls entertained looking for frogs and bugs. He managed to catch a grasshopper and they put it in the bug house. They fussed over that grasshopper all afternoon.

Grandma Faye has been a tremendous help the past couple of weeks. She took the girls almost every day the first week, and she made dinner for them and Bryan. When she comes to our house she is constantly working: so far she's cleaned off the front and back porches and planted flowers around our big cauldron and in between the kids' trees. I really appreciate all she does and I don't know what I'd do without her!
I also have to mention Bryan in my helpers list. He has taken over all the household chores (except cleaning bathrooms, of course!). Not only does he feed and water all the chickens and dog and cat twice a day, he makes the kids lunches before he leaves for work. He's been going to work late so he can get everyone breakfast. He's also done all the laundry and dishes and housecleaning. I think this has made him appreciate all that I normally do around here!

It's nice to have such good helpers! It's especially nice when you can get pictures of your helpers doing something helpful. My mom, in particular, will be very glad to see a picture of herself. (Especially since her eyes aren't closed...wait, I guess we can't see her eyes...they probably are closed!)
